Elease Evans

Freeholder, Passaic County

Photo of Elease Evans Freeholder Evans, who joined the NJTPA Board of Trustees in January 2006, was first elected to the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 2002 and won re-election in 2005. For the past three years, she was selected by her fellow Freeholders to serve as Freeholder Director. Freeholder Evans began her political career in 1985 by winning the first of two terms on the Paterson Board of Education, where she served as the Board’s president for two years.

Freeholder Evans spent 33 years at the Passaic County Board of Social Services before retiring as Senior Training Technician in 2002, upon her election to the Board of Chosen Freeholders. As Freeholder, she co-hosted the first-ever New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Compliance Seminar to assist the county’s business community with environmental compliance issues. Freeholder Evans also currently serves on the boards of the Clifton and Passaic YMCAs and at Paterson’s Eva’s Shelter. She is also a Commissioner of the Paterson Parking Authority.

Freeholder Evans was raised in Passaic County. She attended William Paterson University where she majored in Sociology. Freeholder Evans also received her Certification in Life Skills/Career Counseling from Columbia University. Freeholder Evans and her husband are longtime residents of Paterson's Eastside. She is the mother of two sons and a daughter, and a grandmother of nine.
