Complete Streets Technical Assistance Program
The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority’s (NJTPA) FY2020 Complete Streets Technical Assistance Program is financed by the Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Highway Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Under this program, the NJTPA, Sustainable Jersey, and the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University are coordinating efforts to provide training and direct technical assistance services to municipal governments for advancing complete streets initiatives. The New Jersey Department of Transportation Complete Streets Design Guide defines complete streets as follows: “Complete streets are streets designed for all users, all modes of transportation, and all ability levels. They balance the needs of drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, emergency responders, and goods movement based on the local context.”
