The projects were approved for grants through the NJTPA’s fiscal year 2020 Local Safety and High Risk Rural Roads programs, which provide federal funds to counties and cities for cost-effective solutions that can make an immediate impact on their target areas. The Board approved allocating $71.2 million for Local Safety Program projects and nearly $25 million for a High Risk Rural Roads Program project. The $96 million in overall funds allocated to these projects marks a new high for the programs.
