This section will cover the basics of Complete Streets, how to create an effective and enforceable policy, what elements to include in a policy, what stakeholders to include when developing a policy, and strategies for adoption and building institutional capacity. 9:45am – Noon: Introduction to Complete Streets Implementation This section will describe the process of implementing complete streets policies by integrating complete streets in the local planning, zoning, and land development process, as well as in project design and delivery. Participants will learn how to garner support for complete streets implementation by involving stakeholders and members of the community, and evaluate projects with a broader view than vehicle throughput. Special considerations for freight and local deliveries and planning tools such as data-driven analysis, checklists, street audits, bicycle and pedestrian network plans, and implementation action plans will be included. 1:00pm – 3:00pm: Policy and Design Guidance for Implementing Complete Streets This section will introduce participants to the 2017 New Jersey Complete Streets Design Guide.
