NJ TransAction Conference

The annual New Jersey Transportation Conference and Expo is being held April 30 through May 2. 

The NJTPA will have a booth in the exhibit hall and is participating in several sessions. The Exhibit Hall opens at 8 p.m.

May 1 Sessions

9:15 a.m. — Connecting the Dots: Advancing the Morris Canal Greenway
This session looks at the ongoing effort to create a legacy transportation asset: The Morris Canal Greenway.

10:45 a.m. —  Advancing Public Health Through Road and Street Safety
This workshop will explore how communities are building healthy communities through roadway safety planning. Participants will engage in discussions on safety analysis strategies, creatively leveraging funding and partnerships, ensuring safety planning is inclusive of all communities, and more.

10:45 a.m. — MPO Executive Directors’ Roundtable 
This moderated, high-level session brings together New Jersey’s three MPOs: the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), and the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO). The executive directors of all three MPOs will address common issues, opportunities, and challenges regarding transportation planning in the state.

3:50 p.m. — Planning a Reliable and Equitable EV Charging Network
Planning for Electric Vehicle charging stations creates an opportunity for New Jersey to deploy charging stations with the multifaceted approach of addressing climate change and reducing reliance on the single occupancy vehicle. This presentation will look at planning for a reliable EV network that supports adoption and equity. The workshop team will provide a look into the data and resources available to regions to compare sites and prepare deployment plans.

5 p.m. — Where Public Art Meets Public Safety: How NJ Municipalities Are Using Art to Slow Traffic and Improve Safety 
Cities worldwide are increasingly recognizing the transformative power of art as an effective and low-cost strategy to enhance street safety, calm traffic, and heighten driver awareness of pedestrians. This approach fosters interagency collaboration and augments the city’s ability to engage with artists and community groups on creative projects. Discover the collaborative initiative between the City of Passaic, EZ Ride, and the Bloomberg Foundation, exemplifying the impactful fusion of artistic endeavors with improved street safety.
