Local Programs Overview

The NJTPA’s Local Programs provide funding for municipal and county-owned roadways throughout the NJTPA region. The NJTPA’s Local Program portfolio consists of the following capital improvement programs, each with their own webpage providing further information:
 


The LSP/HRRR program and the concept development phase of the LPD are managed by NJTPA staff while the SRTS and TA programs are co-managed by NJDOT-Local Aid and NJTPA staff. Local Programs relationship to the TIP is as follows:

  • LPD: Once projects complete the concept development phase of the LPD program, they graduate from the Local Program portfolio and can be considered for funding through the TIP.

  • LSP/HRRR: Projects in the LSP/HRR program are combined into a single TIP line item, the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).

  • SRTS: Projects in the SRTS program are combined into a single TIP line item, Safe Routes to School.

  • TAP: Projects in the TAP program are combined into a single TIP line item, Transportation Alternatives.
