Five Subregional Study Reports Released

Final reports were issued for five studies funded during 2018-2019 under NJTPA’s competitive Subregional Studies Program. The NJTPA program provides  grants to its member “subregions”—13 counties and the cities of Newark and Jersey City—to study issues on local transportation networks and find solutions that contribute to improving mobility regionwide. They are:

• Moving Mindfully: Monmouth/Mercer Freight Study explored critical capacity issues for freight routes to ensure safely and efficiently.
• Newark Downtown Circulation Study collected and analyzed data on pedestrian, bicycle, motor vehicle, bus, freight, and parking volume.
• Ocean County Bicycle and Pedestrian Linkages from the Barnegat Branch Trail, Northern Section explored using the trail to provide for adequate bicycle and pedestrian facilities for a broad range of users.
• The John F. Kennedy Boulevard Corridor Study Hudson County identified both physical- and policy-based solutions for safer, viable streets for particular intersections along the corridor.
• Somerset County Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities and Trails Plan explored better connected destinations and additional mobility choices by improving the existing bicycle, pedestrian and trails infrastructure.
