Online Tool Offers Resources for Municipalities, Businesses to Support EV Adoption

5 electric vehicle chargers are shown in a parking lot.New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has set a goal of having 330,000 electric vehicles (EVs) on the road by 2025. Municipalities can help the state reach this goal by electrifying fleets and adopting policies that support installation of EV infrastructure.

Electric vehicles can help communities improve their air quality, reduce their carbon emissions, and save on fuel and maintenance costs.

To support the state’s push toward electrification, the NJTPA has compiled several resources into an online tool aimed at helping counties, municipalities and businesses accelerate EV adoption.

The tool provides links to key resources, like the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Readiness Guidebook the NJTPA developed in 2017. It includes model ordinances and guidance for streamlining the permitting process, information on training for first responders, and links to resources communities can use to encourage residents to make the shift to electric.

These online resources can also be used by businesses interested in installing charging infrastructure at their sites or looking to electrify their fleets.

EVs are a rapidly changing field. This tool will be regularly updated as more resources become available.
